Effective Communication

  1. Communication as it relates to 3rd and 5th graders..

Another classmate and myself are giving a 30 minute presentation on communication to 3rd and 5th graders in their separate classrooms.

We've come up with several ideas, including playing the telephone game (you know, where you get about 10 kids in a circle and whisper a sentence in one ear, then they whisper it into their neighbor's ear, and so on until the last kid tells what he THINKS he heard and everyone falls out laughing), doing a word jumble where we pass out jumbled words related to communication and then I thought we could pass a ball to two kids in the circle and then give them a scenario related to the jumbled word and ask them to act it out.

As for the 5th graders, we're going to incorporate discussions of email, chatrooms, myspace.com, and parental supervision (or lack of) of computer access..

can anyone think of any other ideas that might be good for these age groups? this is our LAST community project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Come on December!!

for third graders why not have a puppet show...sometimes it is a nice way to communicate with friends/family other times is not...they have to tell you which it is, and if it is bad what the puppet should have done differently.
