Barry University Nursing Students

Nursing Students General Students

Hi!

I currently attend Barry University and I will graduating next month with a degree in Adminstration specializing in Hearh Services. I've decided to pursue nursing rather than go for my Masters in Administration. I've already applied for the pre-nursing in the fall but I've yet to receive my acceptance letter (I'm freaking out!).

My plan is to finish four remaining prerequisites in the fall and apply for Barry's Accelerated Nursing Program starting January 2014. Anyway, I would love to hear from current Barry nursing students or students in pre-nursing. I have so many questions!

What would you say is the most rewarding thing about Nursing? The most difficult?

How is the course work? Do you find it to e very difficult?

Do you suggest I quit working?

Will I still be able to have a social life?

Do many students drop out? Are they weeded out?

Is there anything I should review or study before I begin the program?

Are there any study tips, tools, or aides that you suggest I use?

How is grading system like in the program?

^same question for testing

What's the deal with "nurse eating their young"? Will I encounter a lot of that at Barry?

How are the instructors?

How are the clinicals? Where are the clinicals located?

How difficult was it to get into the program, grade wise?

Any other general advice you can give would be much appreciated!

Please excuse any typos. I'm posting from my iPhone.

Thanks!

Why must this be so stressful :(
lol.I have no clue

Hey did u hear anything back from Barry?

No I haven't sent my transcript to them yet...I'm waiting till Friday to find out if I got into famu's nursing program first

Have u heard anything?

Have u heard anything?
. I actually know someone that is in the program at Famu and they say its great. So I hope u get accepted . I haven't heard much from the nursing department only financial aid. When I did talk to an advisor they told me to bring my final transcript in person next week.If It is sent electronically it might get there to late. I have to call and ask how many seats are left though. I do not want to get my hopes up for nothing.

Thanks I hope I do too...and I'm pretty sure ull get in and hear something from the nursing department as soon as u get your transcript in :)

Hi future nursing students! I'm also hoping to get into Barry Spring 2014 BSN traditional as a transfer student. When I spoke to the nursing advisor I was under the impression that as long as I finish my remaining pre-reqs this semester I pretty much have guaranteed acceptance. Spoke to someone who is in the program and into her last sem, and she said priority is given to Barry students. Praying, hoping, and praying for a spot. :(

Also in the same boat as far as sending transcripts go. My finals grades won't be posted till late december even though I'm already finished. :(

Hello yes we are both in the same boat! I currently attend BC so my grades will be posted Thursday. They told me to bring the transcript in person. The advisor also said the seats are not full yet but it is first come first serve.

ahh wish the process wasn't like that. my nursing advisor did tell me that as soon as i get my grades out to go to her in person. i'm just wondering if she'll accept an unofficial transcript
