Working @ Cedars Sinai

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I started working at Cedars about two years ago, this is a well ranked hospital in L.A area and I thought that it would be awesome working there, I was WRONG.

In my opinion working at Cedars is best if you are a travel nurse,as a travel nurse you get floated a lot but on the brighter side it is not long term. So I learned or my experience in Cedars was awful, the nurses there were not welcoming at all, there is this "Cult" where the nurses if friendly, they are friendly to your face but take every chance to report you to the managers, including clinical assistants, they even go to the extent of taking pictures as evidence.

Also, their main priority is money, if a patient comes in sick no matter how sick their main priority is checking for wounds instead of first trying to stabilize the patient, so that the department does not have to pay for hospital acquired pressure ulcers, overtime is a big issue dare you go over your hours, you'll be hearing from mangement.

There are a lot of Filipinos there and they form clicks, they won't help you when you ask for help (most of them, not all) mostly gossip and report you to the mangers and the mangers readily entertain this. The turn over was very high on the Onc (BMT) floor. I saw nurses come and go so fast and in huge numbers due to poor management, due to micro management and constant bad patient assignment to specific nurses and constant write ups. The managers only dictated what I should do, how to do it and wrote me up for any small errors I did, it was stressful working there and human resource will not help you, they are a waste of time in my opinion.

The pay is lower compared to UCLA and Kaiser where I'm much happier.

I'm betting they are happy to be rid of you as well. Hopefully your new job is a better fit. Good luck!
