What to choose? Can I succeed?

Hello everyone! First of all I want to apologise you for my English because I am still learning the language. Now, I am 16 years old and I have started thinking my future. And... I know what I want. I want to have the opportunity to help people. I want to become a doctor or a nurse. I am sure that I will not take the grade to become a doctor but I am the same enthusiastic to become a nurse, even though my parents are negative in this. Could someone tell me his story and if he thinks that he does the right choice? Because I am totally sure that everyone in here is smart enough to become a doctor... I was thought to go to the local hospital to ask someone but I am a little bit scary so, it would be amazing if someone answered me! Thanks everyone! :)

Make sure that you are taking science based courses in high school, and take an honors track.

Have conversation with your school counselor to discuss your goals, and how to best achieve them.

If your school offers school to work or shadowing day, use that time to shadow a nurse, and see if it might be something you would like to do.

Most parents may come across as not taking things seriously, as you have a couple of more years of school left, and lots of time to think about specifics before you go to college.

If there is a specific college you are interested in, get some information on it. Get in contact with an admissions person and see if you can tour the school, see what they have to offer, and be sure the classes you are taking in high school are what you would need to get into their nursing program.

Best wishes!
