Telephone interviews.

So I decided to step out of my box and look into out of state hospital,received many calls and had two phone interview this week (I had one today!) I found the second phone interview to be chalenging,they have asked me many unexpected questions,and I went like blank at least with two questions but at the end the manager said that I did a good job (I dont know maybe she was just trying to be polite) and that she and the supervisor is quite interested in hiring me and since I'm out of state she will give me weekend to think it over and also she will be checking my references and will call be back with I quess an official offer...I really want this job even though I didnt want to nor I was planning to move out my home state but I think this opportunity is definitely worth taking since it is one of largest,teaching hospitals in the state.It is a telemetry floor,9 weeks training (and if the new person is still uncomfortable they can extend it) and the that particular floor is has a low turn over rate (nurses stay there like for 20 years) and the manager havent had a new grad for a while now.The ratio is on days and evenings (the position I applied for is for evenings) 4-5 patients the most and for nights 5-6-7.It is part time position but the manager said that she usually gives more hours than that...they will send me to three different classses (ACLS,rhytm class as well as echo class) Also they offer open heart surgery observation since I quess the hospital is set on teaching. They have computer charting as well and the hourly round.Nursing assistants do the vitals,draw blood as well do glucose checks...sounds like a good envinronment for new grad. So basically I encourage new grads to widen their horizons. Look at me, from being unemployed for 6 months and struggling to get interviews at my home state to interviewing at one of the best,largest hospital in other states. If you want to work in a hospital dont loose hopes and stick to your original plans and something will come through sooner or later. I know that I'm happy with my decision to look for a job across country(the only regret that I have is that I started to look so late),I dont have any official offer yet but I know that there a many hospitals out there that will take their time consider a new grads,it really does help to build one's confidence,encourages as well as gives hope and bright perspectives for the future.
