study question for nursing school

  1. How do you feel about the use of unlicensed assistive personel? I have worked as a paramedic in a small ER alongside of a nurse. I also realize that all paramedics may not have the same experience levels.
There have been a lot of readers of this question-please remember how hard some of your research presentations were HELP!!

Absolutely essential in the ER. I would have a much harder time without the ER techs. They're over worked and usually under appreciated not to mention underpaid.

Medics, and nurses working in the right conditions keep the ER running smooth. I am crossing to the other side and just started nursing school. I will never forget where I started .

When used wisely and within limitations of statutes and scope of practice, they are blessings from Above. And I feel lucky whenever we do have them, which besides our OR tech, is rarely. I agree w/the above; they are overworked and underappreciated most of the time!

yes.. yes.. give me the EMT, they each understand the importance of A, B, C's and are excellent at patient transport, and noticing when things "just aren't right" with a patient... Problem.. our hospital doesn't pay them enough. And some nurses wont give any UAP respect. Ive known some EMT's who appear more knowledgable than the "Nurse" they are assisting.. Oh yeah and isnt there a distinction between EMT and Paramedic? Isnt a Paramedics training more in depth? We hve EMT's/ and one fireman in our E.R. as Tech's... But the Paramedics work elswhere for more Pay?...and more respect.
