Post shadow experience

Nurses General Nursing

Hello,

I recently interviewed for an RN position at a local hospital almost two weeks ago for a position on a med-surg unit. the interview went really well, the unit manager said a lot of my qualities are what she is looking for, and that she felt I would be a really good fit. She gave me a tour and I was able to meet some of the nurses. Interview lasted approximately 35 minutes, and before leaving she asked when I would be available to shadow. I explained due to my current achddule (I work at a ltc facility, 5/6 8 hours a week) that the following weekend would be better. She said that would be perfect and gave me the name of the nurse I would be shadowing. We discussed some information about orientation (i had to explain that I was getting married in a month and she said time off would be granted with no problems, that they would work around it). Anyways, she explained my orientation would be 6 weeks of days and 6 weeks of nights to get myself back into routine for working night shift there. she said hr would be in contact with me for references (already contacted me and all that was completed) and she said before leaving they would be jn contact with pay and my orientation schedule. Fast forward, shadowing went really well. The nurse I shadowed was wonderful, and she said the only way they wouldn't hire me was if the nurses didn't feel id be a good fit, but all went well. She said that HR called her shortly after her shadowing. Well it has been 4 days (3 business days), since my shadowing experience and I have been sitting on pins and needles because I haven't heard anything else. Sent a thank you email the day after my shadowing experience. Just nervous now, since it went really well but haven't heard anything for a while. Anyone have any similar experiences, or any advice on how much longer I should wait to call hr and get an update? Thanks!

I would call them. Start the conversation with how well the shadowing went and ask them what the next step would be.

@seaofclouds I have contacted the unit manager and left her a voicemail, as well as called hr yesterday and left a voicemail since no one answered. Starting to lose hope in getting this job even though everything went very well 😕
