I interviewed 10 days ago on the 20th. The director said she was going to submit my paperwork to human resources and that I should get a call in about a week. So today I called HR, asking them about the status of my application and if there is anything that I can help them with.

They told me that they have some paperwork but it has not received all approval, once everything is approved they will be contacting selected candidates.

I'm just wondering what this means? Is this just a generic response that they tell everyone? When she said paperwork I'm not even sure that she meant mine because her response was quick.

The director gave me her cell phone number and told me I can text her if I have any questions. Would it be appropriate to ask her about my application?

I keep telling myself to be patient but it's hard:unsure: I am a new grad by the way.

Recently I haven't had time to send follow up letters for interviews (had offer before I walked in the door when I got home after the interviews). However, in the past I would send a thank you letter directly to who I interviewed with thanking them for their time and letting them know that I am still interested and if they had any questions how they could contact me for more information. If I didn't hear anything in a few days I would call to confirm they received the letter. This opened the door to ask questions about their decision process, etc. I'm glad I did with one job because it was a new department and as it turned out I was one of the first of several interviews. After six weeks I received a follow up email confirming what I was told weeks earlier, I was one of the chosen group, they were just waiting for the go ahead from HR.

I'm not sure the what the whole thing is now with social media and texts. I still find it a little odd when I get work texts on my phone but I guess it's just the change of times. It does seem that more and more people are using that line of communication over a phone call these days though. Maybe someone else would know how to answer that one better.

I do know someone who got the job but it took HR a couple of months to get the position in the system and the paperwork completed so 10 days doesn't seem too bad.
