Putting a portfolio together for school was a big pain in the butt (I had to do it for my RN-BSN program, but not for my ADN program), however, it forced me to organize my CEUs, certifications, etc. So, worth it for that reason.

I actually started to put together one on my own before I found out it was an assignment for school. There wasn't really any structure given to us, and more just to kick us in the butt to organize our stuff somewhat. I've found mine helpful b/c my stuff is all in one place now. I have resumes, cover letters, copies of all of my clinical evaluations, certifications, awards, reference letters, contacts, immunization record & titres, and school marks. I don't know whether or not it will be useful at all once I enter the workforce, but its nice to know that all of my papers can easily be found in one place.
