Nursing Programs in Texas..?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi all!

Was wondering if anyone knew/had any experience with nursing programs in Texas, preferably near Houston, Dallas, or Austin. I may be moving this summer, and would like to get opinions on the programs, costs and acceptances. What you've heard, what you think/thought, what you would do differently, etc- anything would help!! I am a good student with strong grades in my nursing pre req's, but my GPA is low due to slacking off my first semester. It should be back up to a 3.0, if not close, this semester though!

Any advice and/or opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!:redpinkhe

I'm glad you are thinking of heading down our way. You may want to be more specific in your question and move it to the Texas forum (Region ->United States ->Texas). If you are still in the process of determining where you want to live, I would also suggest adding San Antonio to your list.

I know it sounds like a cliche, but we're a very big state, and each metropolitan area has it's own unique characteristics. There are many websites that can provide you with information on Tx SONs... here's one http://www.nursing-school-degrees.com/Nursing-Schools-State/Nursing-Schools-in-Texas.html

Schools in Tx are just as competitive as other states. Our in-state tuition rate is still pretty low, and of course, community colleges are always a real bargain. Our economy has not been as hard hit as many other areas and hospitals are still hiring in the Houston metro area. We're still new-grad friendly.
