Published

Hi I'm currently working on getting my prerequisites done for nursing school and by a happy accident found allnurses.

Something I am wondering though is what are the different master degrees and what can you do with them?

Thanx :)

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Oooh mee too! Well, im half way through the program from my BSN.

I know all my teachers have masters in nursing, except for the MD who teaches my pharmacology and patho :)

Specializes in Med/Surg, L&D.

There are many different Master's programs for nursing including: Nurse Practitioner (Family, Pediatric, Adult, Acute Care, Women's Health, Neonatal, etc), Certified Nurse Midwife, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Management, Informatics, education and Nurse Anesthetists. Here is a link with more information.

Specializes in Hospital Education Coordinator.

MBA + MSN offered locally. Grads usually go into healthcare administration

MSN - education track - speaks for itself

MSN - Nurse Practitioner - again, it is obvious

MSN without MBA - administration track - healthcare admin again.

I did the education track and manage the education dept in a hospital. Some of my co-grads teach in local colleges. Others are in research, work with insurance companies, work for the State (one is in charge of bioterrorism planning for several counties). Some work on the floors as clinical educators. So it depends on what you like or can find available.
