Many Filipinos are taking up nursing nowadays because of the promising opportunities that awaits them abroad. Even doctors and college graduates are taking up nursing as their second course. Do you think it's worth it? Considering that you have to study again for 2-3 years more?

Yep, I think that it's all worth it. I am not a second courser but I have friends who is. As you said the opportunities today for nurses are vast.

I went to nursing school with a woman who was a doctor in the Philippines- she said that if she wanted to be a doctor in the US that she would basically have to repeat medical school, so for her, she felt she was better off getting her BSN & working as a nurse- plus, she said she would make more as a nurse in the US than she did as a physician in the Philippines.

I say WELCOME SECOND COURSE NURSES---Enjoy the professional growth nursing has to offer.
Observe the individual RN's practice and ethics THEN you can judge. Is the 2nd-course-RN worthy of OUR profession?>
Our patients, families, communities and planet need NURSES.
Kudos and blessings to ALL of us.
