Nurse to become psychologist...

  1. I am thinking of taking up nursing because i am interested in it, i am a caring person and i am bright. I'm a psychology graduate, but can't afford tuition fees to study for a PHd in Clinical Psychology, and i don't have the clinical experience anyway. I am wondering, if i train to be a Mental Health Nurse (two years postgrad, with full funding and living allowance curtesy or UK national health service), whether it would be a good idea to study for a PHd or similar part time whilst i was a nurse?
The other posibility is occupational therapy, i couldn't really decide between the two, i suppose the only factor would be salary but i expect that is the same.

    What do you think?

Or should i just get a job stacking shelves for a couple of years and save?

where exactly are you looking at doing your training and also working once you have completed your training? If you are looking at nurse training (mental health) in the UK and then plan to move to the US, it will be hard as UK training currently does not meet requirements of US training. Short in certain areas Check out the UK and international forum as plenty of information in there.
