I have been lurking in the shadows while in LPN school and just reading the posts here. I graduated from school, passed the nclex, and now have my license. I also have landed my dream job and start Monday. I have worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years as an aide, medication aide, and pharm tech. I finally pursed my dream of getting my PN license(late bloomer)! I landed a job in a family practice office, work M-F and I am a NERVOUS WRECK!

I am pretty confident in my skills but this will be a brand new environment for me. I am used to hard, fast paced work, but something about this job has me excited and nervous.

Why am I feeling this way? Is it because it's my first NURSING job?

Any advice, please? For my first day, etc. I always hate being the new kid on the block and wish I could fast forward a few months down the road! What should I brush up on before my first day?

Thank you all so much!!!

You're nervous because it's new to you. That's only natural. Given your experience, I doubt it's a skillset vs. task inequity. Just relax. After a few weeks I bet it feels old hat to you.

Congrats on landing your dream job!

Will you have a preceptor or following someone for some time? Make sure you introduce yourself to the staff. Also, get to know the routine of the practice. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

TY! I know I have to give myself time and I think you are right about me. I worry more about getting it down how the day flows than my skills. And that will take time!
