More Respect Than Ever!

Nurses General Nursing

For the past few years I have been in a mode of working to discover my true calling. I am currently an executive sales rep and have been so for over a decade now (not in healthcare). As with all jobs there are the positives and negatives and the ups and downs. Sales has provided me with steady employement and a good living wage. On the other hand, my instinct tells me that if I approach my fears and tackle them head on I will find more success. Success to me is inner tranquility and satisfaction derived from self-impowerment and the impowerment of people that can benefit from it the most. This is where nursing came into my field of view as a real possibility for both.

Now, as a good little corporate worker and trained consumer I realized that I must do so some research to understand the risk of such an endevor so that I may make an informed decision. This is where I came across the corporate dimension of nursing that lurks in the shadows like a vampire stalking its next set of fresh innocent victims.

If I ever am in the hospital I pray that I get one of you angels to take care of my sick sure to be whinny ass. I will do everything that I can to thank you and appreciate your hard work and efforts that go unnoticed. In fact, I will thank you now because at some point I am sure that I will require your help and selfless dedication to the sick, scared, and oftentimes completely alone people that rely on you for comfort, assitance, and acceptance of their human condition.

I can only imagine how much energy is required to acomplish the task at hand LESS the bureaucracy of the massive for-profit U.S. Healthcare system. EEEK! It reads like a case of David vs. Goliath with David not being able to find even the smallest of pebbles for his self made slingshot.

Be sure to take care of yourselves and protect yourselves -as a whole- because even though most detached observers may act like you are just another blue collar worker we CANNOT afford to loose you.

If what you are saying is that it must be difficult to actually care about your fellow human beings in a healthcare corporate enviroment that cares for nothing but money, you got that right bub!
