Is it true that take a bit longer to Graduate from community college if you are taking LPN or R.N classes.:nurse:

Specializes in Rural Nursing = Med/Surg, ER, OB, ICU.

Here in Colorado it takes 2 more semesters to bridge from LPN to RN. The Associates Degree of Nursing {ADN}takes a total of 3 years including pre-reqs to complete.

At my school, it's 3 semester for LPN & 4 for RN.

Then to bridge, the LPN's take an additional summer course for transition, and then join an RN class for the final 2 semesters.

So a total of 6 semesters.

I've heard they get a more thorough education than those of us in the traditional RN program.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

It sometimes takes 3 to 4 years to complete a 2-year ADN-RN program at a community college due to prerequisite classes, testing, lotteries, waiting lists, fierce competition, and other factors. These same issues can also cause a student to take 2 to 2.5 years to complete an 18 month LPN program at a community college.

On the other hand, the person who wishes to pursue an associate of arts degree in business or philosophy from his local community college can accomplish this feat in 2 years or less.
