ok

so i am an experienced RN and i had a interview at one of the top hospitals in the country. met with HR, manager. and staff. stayed on the unit for some time talking to staff and shadowing a nurse. nurse manager called my current supervisor to get a reference last wk. she says she gave me a good one. now i'm waiting....waiting for what? maybe she is still interviewing? should i follow-up with the nurse manager personally by calling and inquiring, its been 2 weeks almost. HR told me to follow-up with her if i didn't hear anything back directly within 10 business days, but that i should hear back directly from the nurse manager. i hate waiting. it has been 8 days now. just wanted to see my fellow nurses opinions are or other nurse managers out there....what you think is the appropiate and professional thing to do.

thanks everyone :nurse:

You got your directions straight from HR. If you don't hear by Monday afternoon -- call. Maybe she is having a tough time deciding. It seems reasonable to me to give her the weekend to think about it.

Did you send a thank you note? If not, hand write a nice note and do it now so that they have that to consider when deciding. If so, you have done all you can. Although it is hard to wait good things are worth it!! Good Luck!!

Speaking as a former Staffing person (although, not in a medical setting), I can tell you that there is much more to the hiring process than interviews and making an offer. They may be double checking your education, waiting for references to respond to their inquiries, or they may have 5 people in "management" to approve the offer before they can present it to you and one of those 5 is unavailable to sign off on it. And yes, there is the possibility that they are still interviewing.

Still, it doesn't help being the one waiting - and totally clueless as to what's going on behind the scenes.

The nice thing ---- HR encouraged you to follow up. So....follow up.

Best of luck to you. I hope you get it!!
