I think I made the wrong job choice...help!

I think I made a terrible decision and just want to get others real opinions on the matter. I graduated in May with my RN-BSN degree (previously a LPN for the last 5 years) at a school that co-ops with the hospital. I am from this area so I wasn't planning on leaving at all and had planned on working there. I ended up taking a job at a clinic, which I do not love.

Here is the kicker. I owe roughly $54k in student loans. $30k of it would have been paid off by the hospital if I would of accepted a job there. (It would have taken me 6 years to get it paid off/$5200/year is what they pay).

I am sick to my stomach now thinking back about it. I gave up getting my loans paid off, took a less paying job and work more days during the week. I took the clinic job because I am pregnant and thought the hours would be great for a family! Now I am second guessing myself...I guess because I thought this would be my dream job and it's really not-I find it boring and un-challenging. That and I did not want to work holidays, weekends or nights and med-surg just doesn't particularly appeal to me.

My husband keeps telling me it's fine, we thought it all out before hand and it's all going to work out just fine, but I am worried sick about the money situation. We had all these dreams and now, I feel that they are all going to have to wait because we will have $500/month in student loans.

Should I call the hospital back and ask if I can still get a job? I know since I am not officially a RN yet I should be able to get rehired somewhere, I'm just so confused and worried.

Any advice? Insight? Thanks so much for reading!

I would say get on that phone and call them back! Beg, plea, whatever it takes to get back to that hospital. You can always find hours that will work with a new family at a hospital. 3- 12's, 4 -10's 5- 8's, 2 12's and 2 8's. I mean you can make it work. Do you have to work full time there? Can you take part time? Plus the money!!! I would kill right now to find a place to pay off my ridiculous student loans!!! I am actually having to come out of pocket for my RN program because I have maxed out my student loan money. (second degree)

Good Luck!
