Please can someone help me with some info about getting references.I'm currently working as a cna through registry and I'd like to switch to a better paying registry. The 2 I work for didn't check my references because they pay so low and basically hire anyone who's cleared by the state to work legally.I guess what I'm trying to ask is,do registried actually check anything?,or is it just normal protocol to ask for these types of things?Working registry I don't get a chance to make bonds very easily with charge nurses and supervisors to where I can obtain a very much needed boost in my career until I return to school.

Why can't you use an administrator from your registry as a reference? You don't necessarily need a registered healthcare provider to be a reference, you just need some one to vouch that you are a decent employee.

In my current job, I used a former employer from a non-healthcare related job (food preparation/ dish washing) as one of my references.

A nurse reference will be more beneficial when applying for nursing school.

I see it says you're in or from Canada so I don't know how they do things up there. If you've ever applied for a registry they want nurse supervisor or charge nurse.I tried to use an old supervisor when I did security and one of the more nationally recognized registries said it was unacceptable. They really want to see your skills judged only by a nursing supervisor.
