help with the OIG's list

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am seeking any info, help anything on this topic.... to make a long story short, I have been a nurse for >15yrs, early in my career I screwed up and had sanctions against my nursing license by my state board... justifiably so! I screwed up... anyway, 14 yrs later I became a scape goat for someone else's indiscretion and ultimately now have a felony on my record and on the OIG's exclusion list for the next 3 years (5 total)

1. does anyone know if I can fight a mandatory 5 year position on the list?

2. I am back in school for another area in healthcare, but not nursing and was wondering if anyone knows what type of jobs are available while on the list?

this may sound like I am trying to get around things, but let me say I am not... I screwed up early on in life, and I will live with that, but I refuse to lay down and die after having something I didn't do pinned on me... I hope there are those of you out there that realize that sometimes "bad things do happen to good people!!"

new to all this so let me just say thanks for any feed back!!

I would seek legal counsel with this.

you know it's too bad that its so expensive to fight for whats right! i spent every dime trying to defend my innocence and in the end nothing mattered!! i was told that an appeal of my conviction would be in excess of $75 thousand dollars!! CRAZY... and i risked jail time to fight rather than to plea to a lesser charge, and still....

anyway, if anyone does come up with other suggestions about the Mandatory 5 years on the OIG's list, or what type of facility would (or can) hire someone on the exclusion list as a nurse would be very helpful.
