Help, I have an interview for a Nurse Liaison postion

Nurses General Nursing

I don't know where to even post this, but I have an interview for a Nurse Liaison postion for a LTC. I was wondering if there were any other nurses out there doing the same or similar job and how you like it? I feel confident about doing it and am kind of happy I am stepping away from bed side nursing! Would love to hear from other out there that are doing this and what your average day is like and what you hate or like about the job. What perks that come with your job? Thanks!

Wow! How exciting! Did you get the job? If so I'd love to exchange ideas/innovation with you. I've just joined allnurses.com and was searching for dialogue from a nurse liaison. I currently work as a LVN nurse liaison for a SNF/LTC facility. I felt the same way when I was about to interview; being that I had never worked in this field of nursing before. I have been with my company now for a little over a 3 months and I simply love it. The best things are the contact with people, the freedom/autonomy and getting out of the office. I also enjoy the networking events a whole bunch! Talking comes natural to me and I'm a people person. One more important thing about...the salary is very attractive- $58,000/yr! The drawbacks are when the census drops everyone is looking at me! Although I am still stirring the pot with marketing and being out there in the community. Another con is the negativity received by some of our nurses when there are a lot of admissions to our facility (Hello----this is what keeps our doors open people-more patients)=! Lastly there are the days when everything is slow or its raining. Overall the job is wonderful. I think a good way to show our worth is to keep the facility administrator abreast of marketing tools i.e hosting CEU's for facilities, being involved in monitoring which facilities could beef up the referrals and targeting them as far as offering extra help in support of their events. Keep those creative wheels turning!

I have an interview as well tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to a new challenge and I can keep my assessment skills sharp without having to deal with the floor.

Also, teaching and talking are where my skill sets lie. :D I'd like to know if there are more nurse liaisons/nurse evaluators out there!!
