Fundraising help for student event

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

I am the president of the student nursing association in Orlando, Florida and I am currently organizing a fundraiser for Shepherd's Hope. I was hoping to find a company that does matching donations and thought there may be someone on this board that could recommend companies or insight. I have done some research of my own but majority of companies seem to only match donations of employees.

Any insight or recommendations would be great.

Thanks!

What exactly does Shepherd's Hope do? That might help guide the discussion.

Also- you want to go after straight donations. Matching IS usually for employees only. If it's not matching, smaller donors are more likely to assist.

Sure!

Shepherd's Hope provides healthcare services from providers (nurses, doctors, etc.) who volunteer their time.... As from the website: " [it] is a non-profit, faith-based organization of volunteers that exists to provide access to health care for the uninsured." Everyone who is part of Shepherd's Hope is a volunteer, usually helping people below the 200% poverty line.

Any suggestions on getting the smaller donations? We are holding a fundraiser at a restaurant and receive 15% from whoever attends between a certain time and states it is for our organization. I was hoping to find someone to match, or small business that would be willing to contribute.

Thanks!

You big box stores (WalMart, Target, and the like) are usually good places to start. Maybe medical supply houses / suppliers for either cash or in-kind donations. You might also ask your local homeless service organizations who THEY get donations from who might be interested.

Good luck!
