Ethics in Nursing

Nurses General Nursing

Hi, I am writing a paper about ethical principles in nursing. We need to use a client situation in our paper, but the problem is that I have not been exposed to much ethical situations in clinical yet.

I was wondering if anyone could share their stories about ethical situations (not dilemmas) that they have experience. As much detail as you are allowed to provide would be great.

Thanks so much in advance!!

A popular topic is giving higher doses of narcs to patients who are dying, because their need for high doses is great but the possibility is that the high doses of narcs can suppress respiration.

What about a 'save the mother or save the baby' situation?

Or personal ethics...can you participate in something that goes against your morals? What if you are the only nurse, and leaving the situation means abandonment, but staying represents something that you feel is against your moral beliefs.

What about accepting gifts from patients? Is that ethical?

maybe some of these ideas will help.
