COLD-Hearted Management

Just need to vent.

Sadly, this kind of attitude is the norm for hospital/nursing management.

Incidentally, a coworker of mine's wife works for an area hospital in the ED and told us about a meeting called there informing the nurses that from now on there will be an "A" team and a "B" team at this ED. The "A" team would be comprised of those nurses who always worked extra, never took off, always came in when called, etc. and the "B" team would be those who just "did their job" and didn't come in extra, etc....and that this would be taken into account at evaluation time. Is that even legal???

And they wonder why there's such a critical "nursing shortage". Indeed!

Thank the Lord, NOT Press-Gainey with their idiotic/humiliating "scripts." Some other outfit, can't remember their name, but will let you know later. I think it's all a bunch of crock anyway--my proposal will save the hospital thousands of dollars. Just have all the nurse managers treat their nurses with dignity, equinamity and respect, and I GUARANTEE that patient/family satisfaction scores will rise.... Just that simple. People tend to "minister out" what they have been "ministered to..." however subconsciously. If respect and kindness is the NORM around the place, flowing from the head (ANM) on down... well, the whole atmosphere will change, splling out onto patients/families and anyone else who just happens to be around. Just common sense--won't even charge for it!!!!

Oh GOSH, NOT Press-Ganey... if I hear that anymore I'm going to SCREAM!

Can you believe they actually think we need a script on how to answer the F*C(K&IG phone in our unit? It all makes me sick, just SICK (not to mention insulted.)

I work in the ER, we have Press-Gainey doing our surveys. Our census has jumped up, waiting time has jumped up, but this could have NOTHING at all to do with the decrease int eh amount of satisfaction of the patient toward the nursing staff. This is according to my ER manager. If you were a patient and were sick, say you had gastrointeritis and you had to wait in the waiting room for 3 hours, don't you think it might change your satisfaction toward anything and everything that occured during your ER visit? The manager comes back with they shouldnt be upset about the wait if the triage nurse keeps them informed of what is happening. Yeah right, the nurse comes out to the waiting area and says, sorry Ms. Smith, we are busy with ambulance patients and don't have anywhere for you to lie down right now. I may understand, but it makes me feel no better that someone who knows the system better than I do, called an ambulance to bring them in for N&V and claim chest pain too. I work in a 14 bed ER, our census last month was 2,600. They (the management) promised us a new ER, even had a write up about it in the local paper. They have decided to build a FIFTH doctor's office building instead. Does this make any sense? Get more docs that bring more patients for further dissatisfaction? I wanna scream! Like the rest of you if I hear one more thing about Press-Gainey, I WILL scream!
