I see in the "recommended reading" some articles about the career side of things, but as far as learning the biology, terminology, anatomy, etc of the field, what would you guys recommend?

I am in college (first year) so obviously biology and whatnot are great courses, but here I am talking about books and articles that explain the medical and scientific sides of things.

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

I'd recommend Taber's Medical Dictionary and have it by your side while you're reading medical things. You'll come across oodles of words you don't know, and look them up as you go. It helped me when I was in nursing school!

I could have asked the same question, thanks Whispera. One additional note, if you have a Half Price Books store in your town, you might want to check there first, before I started this quarter I had seen some terminology books and even picked up a couple of Med/Surg and Bio-Chem books there (that were probably $150-200 orignally) for only $10 ea....2005 editions to boot ! I'm assuming the structure of the atom hasn't changed much in the past 4 years unless I missed a memo...:D
