Are open courseware certificates helpful in getting hired?

I'm starting a BSN program in the Fall and currently taking a free online course on Antimicrobial Resistance from University of Denmark via Coursera. For $50.00, I can apply for a downloadable certificate that I can put on my resume (assuming that I pass the course with 80% or better.) I'm learning much and find it very interesting.

My questions is whether it is worth the money to purchase the certificate. I would love to hear from those of you in hiring positions as to the value of such supplemental classes when hiring.

Thank you.

A free online course is not worthy of mention on a resume. If you need proof of completion of the course to maintain a license or a certification then pay to download the certificate. Single courses are not resume worthy, but speciality certifications are, if you obtain a speciality certification by passing a recognized certification exam or by completing a multi-course certification program it should be added to your resume.

Thanks! These are the viewpoints in which I'm interested.
