Acc BSN with MSN in mind

Nurses General Nursing

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so my apologies for any ignorance on the subject or if this is in the wrong thread/spot.

I don't have a BSN, but I do have a BA in Psychology, so that's why I'm looking at accelerated programs. My ultimate goal at this point would probably be to become a Nurse Midwife.

I've looked around and not a lot of places offer accelerated MSN for Nurse Midwifery, so I'm thinking I'd probably do an accelerated BSN and then apply for a normal MSN in Nurse Midwifery. Another issue here is I don't want to spend a lot of money and would prefer a program around Los Angeles, CA. I can't apply this year because I have about 3 more pre-reqs to finish...but ideally I want to do this asap.

Im looking around at the list of accelerated programs but I just wanted to know your advice on the best/most affordable programs as well as what you know/think about being a nurse midwife? I love working with pregnant women and children and think that's why this would be a great job for me. What do you guys think and know about these topics?

Thanks in advance for all your support and help!!
