A friend of mine with excellent grades was denied entrance to Gavilan College. It's competitive like the rest of the schools. Good Luck
just curious what do students do when they are denied? i ventured off to real estate for a few years now and regret not going for my RN.
thanks
Well that all depends, like in my friends case she ended up applying to other schools before she got into our school. I was lucky and gained entrance into two schools before I made my final decision. I just didn't apply to any school, I visited the campus and spoke with admissions and had a full tour. There were some schools that I didn't like and I ended up not applying to them. There were just too many gaps and questions (both community & vocational). Calgirl stick to nursing if you feel it's your passion. I decided to drop nursing 10 year ago and go for a 4 year Bachelors degree, and I wish I hadn't. Now I'm back in nursing. But, at least I have a BA now LOL.

I go to Gavilan. I hear that the program is super competitive. You must have at least all As in all the prereqs to make sure you got in. Even a simple B+ or an A- can alter your position. But they go by a ladder. CNA-to-LPN-to-RN. I feel bad for people who are content with a B+ though, because they don't understand how hard the reality of the competition's nature is.
I heard that they take half via GPA and half lottery. So people will have a chance to get in. I just found that out by a friend who is attending Gav right now.
Cubanita, are you in a nursing program now? If so, where?
No I'm not in the LVN-RN program yet. I'm going to apply to Gav as one of my options.
Do you go to any school at this moment?
Yes, I do at the moment, and I'm taking microbiology in order to apply to several LVN-RN programs in the Bay Area. I'm from Gilroy so I have my options.
