Endo Center vs Hospital

The major issue for me was working FOR the physicians...

In the hospital, I didn't have to tolerate the bad attitudes or issues and basically told them so.

But if you work for them, you have to deal with it and smile....

The physicians look at it like a business and will treat you as such.

The benefits will be just enough to be tolerable and the pay will be a little less than the hospital- unless they are desperate.

Remember, they are looking for profit, not your wellbeing or happiness and that it is a money making opportunity for them.

That is one way of looking at it. The other way is that in a business you want to have the best. Time is money and if you have better nurses then you can do more cases and make more money. In the hospital you have to work with anyone that has privileges, that includes jerks and non-jerks. If you think that your hospital isn't a business and that they value your happiness and wellbeing then you haven't read some of the posts in this section.

Endo centers usually don't pay as much, but the other side is that there is no call and steady hours. Depends on what you like. Most of our nurses have been there since the center opened five years ago. Depends on the environment.

I completely agree that the hospitals are operated as business venture!

but

My point was ...

When you become a physician's employee, the dynamic changes and it can be an interesting transition for a nurse that has working in a hospital type setting.

I have worked in Endo centers, surgery centers, plastic surgery offices and trauma hospitals throughout my travels and career. In my opinion, I agree with you, that it all depends on the physicians you work for and their personality types and their relationships with each other.

Thanks for your input.
