Hi! I am a 1st semester BSN student. My nursing science course requires a research on a particular problem relevant to clinical nursing practice. My father had crohns so I am interested in finding research on diet therapy and crohns. Could anyone tell me of any other particular problems about crohns that relates to nursing.

thank you!

Tina

not to be rude...but have you done a google search or search of other nursing sites, or medscape, or even webmd?

I have done a google search, but I only saw two researches on nutrition and crohns. I have already done a CINAHL search, but my professor wants us to also use a search engine and a metasearch engine. Anyway.....I already know what I'm searching for. My question was....What other crohns issues are there for nursing practice?

Hey Tina! I typed "Crohn's Disease" into my google browser and TONS of pages with oodles of info about Crohn's popped up. You'll have to actually click on the link and read a little bit before you find the info related to nutritional and dietary implications. Hence the term "research...."

Happy researching!

Thank you Heather! I am already searching for clinical research articles. The only reason why I posted was that I wanted a nursing opinion about OTHER problems that they deal with when they care for crohn's patients. In other words, what other clinical issues have the nurses experienced while working with crohn's patients (besides diet education).

med compliance

med side effects

med efficacy

nutritional staus

hydration

change in lifestyle

change in self-image

why oh why...someone tell me....???

I remember, back in the day, when I rode my dinosaur to the library and did my own brainstorming and research.

About the comments.....I'm not asking these questions so that I don't have to do the research....my instructor had asked us to talk with RN'S to find out about clinical issues that they deal with on certain patients if we had some problems finding clinical researches on our specific topic ....you know since our class is the FIRST semester, and some of us needed some insight from EXPERIENCED nurses. That's all! I have decided to do a difficult paper, unlike the rest of some of my slacker classmates, because my father just died from crohns, hep, and cirrhosis, and I am interested in other measures of therapy besides drugs for crohns . So I would really appreciate some respect, because I really do respect those who have already been in my shoes and have graduated. So, if you are implying that I am a slacker..you do not know me, so do not judge me! P.S. this is the first time that I have ever had a smart or rude comment...I guess it isn't such a great site after all. I mean, I would surely would want to help a fellow student...I would not do an entire project, but I would be nice enough to answer a question without making such mean comments. So, sorry if I sound a little upset, but if either one of you didn't mean to sound mean than maybe you should be careful of how you reply to posts.

Then again...since I am a myers-briggs feeler...maybe I just misunderstood you both, and it's my fault.

Anyway, thank you for at least reading my post.
