just about everything you need to know about gastric cancer, can be found on the nci (national cancer institute) web site (http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/stomach/). on this page for stomach cancer you can link into their booklet "what you need to know about™ stomach cancer" (http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/wyntk/stomach) which provides most of the information you need for your presentation. the pathophysiology of cancer can be found on this previous thread on allnurses: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/mdmred60-183294.html. other websites that have information you will need are:
[*]http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec02/ch021/ch021d.html - stomach cancer
[*]http://www.webmd.com/cancer/understanding-stomach-cancer-basics - understanding stomach cancer - the basics
[*]http://www.medicinenet.com/stomach_cancer/article.htm - cancer of the stomach
some of those sites will have photos of cancer cells. you can search and find images of anatomy on the internet very easily with just the words "images of the stomach" or "drawings of the stomach"
in your last thread i showed you how to assess a patient for a case study and explained that a nursing diagnosis is based upon the abnormal data (signs and symptoms) that a patient has. this information comes from assessment data that you gather. it is no different even when the patient is imaginary. make a list of all the signs and symptoms that a person with gastric cancer would have. don't forget to include how you would assume they would have difficulty performing adls (bathing, dressing, mobility, eating, toileting, and grooming), particularly eating. it is easy to get caught up in the pathophysiology that is going on, but remember that we are nurses and adls r us. the american cancer society should have information on assisting patients with adls although they are not going to call them adls because they are a consumer website. then, use a nursing diagnosis reference to classify the symptoms into their proper nursing diagnosis names. ask if you need help doing that.
Hi Daytonite,
Yes, please help me with the Nursing care considerations
What would you suggest on audience participation during the presentation? Also, would it better for one person to present or divide it among group members?
Thanks so much for your help.

i think that up to this point you have been provided with enough help which is what you originally requested. now that you say there are others involved and that this is a group presentation i think you need to work with the others in your group and get some of their ideas. teamwork is important; everyone's participation is important.
We are 4 in our group but they dont want to be the leader so I have to step in. I have no problem with being the leader of our group. About the ideas, they don't have any ideas to put in... So I have to do with what i have in order to make this presentation work. I will get the list of symptoms and if you can please help me.
