I also will be starting at Galen August 2011!! YAYYYyy;) I'm soooo nervous, but also very excited and ready to learn nursing. I will be doing the day-LPN program. Which are you guys doing? Are you two currently working in a healthcare setting? Right now i'm at Bayfront but I want to work over at All Children's when i'm done with RN! Best of luck to you guys, and I cant wait to see you on orientation!
I'm doing the day LPN program as well. And I'm super excited!! I'm working at a restaurant right now, I volunteered at Tampa General for a while though. What are you doing exactly at Bayfront? And how will you work and go to school full time? That's gotta be rough.
Have you gotten any information about orientation yet? I think they said it was July 27 from 1-4. Can't wait to hear back from you

I hope you all don't mind if I chime in! Congrats on your August starts, Thats great! I am looking into starting in November as my family and I will be moving down from New England. Could you tell me anything about the school? The people there, the facilities? Anything else you think might be good to know? Also if you don't mind sharing, what were your scores on the PAX? I took the PAX-RN last summer and since I probably won't find out about my acceptance until August, I'm wondering how my scores compare and how they'll impact my chances. Thanks and best of luck!
Well right now i'm a sitter at Bayfront, but after our first semester(or after my CNA certification) I want to move up as a tech. Right now i'm working full-time, but when classes start my manager and I agreed for me to only work weekends. Bayfront is a teaching Hospital and even tho I sit I learn SO much! Plus I have a 4 month old son so I MUST work! lol... I got my invite to Orientation last week, but mines said July 28th 1pm-4pm. SO EXCITED!! I will also give you my e-mail, and do you live nearby?? I really need ppl to study with bc that seems to always work for me in the past! But congrats on your acceptence I look forward to meeting you! [email protected]
MMA7, that's great that your looking into nursing..plenty of jobs down here! Well, my experience at Galen has been good so far. I didn't have to take the Pax exam due to my ACT scores, but a friend of mines got in with a 99! She was accepted as an alternate, but was fully accepted two weeks later. My admission rep. was OK, I could tell it was about money for her though. But my finacial planning advisor was great! She explained everything to me, and made sure I utilized all the free money I cld(in my best interest). Ummm...I loved the campus...and at my job Galen nurses have a great reputation, and seem to be more advance than the other schools out here(imo) The only downfall to me is Galen's pricetag. This is a very expensive school, so do your research if you decide to attend that school, but other than that I love it so far!!

Galen has an exceptional LPN program. I am proud to be a graduate. Best year of my life. Class of 06
CareBear,
Hello!! I also started Galen in August with NurseAeja and we are having the time of our lives. It is a lot of hard work, harder than I thought but at the end of the day when I'm going to sleep I can't help but smile thinking that this whole experience is awesome!! I am in such a better mood nowadays and have made some pretty cool friends.
Since starting in the middle of August I have already been to 3 clinicals. I have seen everything and even wiped some butts and changed diapers. I've seen catheters inserted, feedings given. My clinical site has been really good to us and not only asks for help but even tests us in the process as well.
Today is midterm week. Surprisingly I have been doing very well on all my exams, A's and B's. Anatomy is another story though I will NEVER get that! So I'm a C student in there. Today we have our CPE's, Critical Performance Exam where we go onto campus in their labs in our clinical uniforms and perform a variety of different things on the mannequins infront of instructors. I'm about to pee my pants I'm so nervous but I know everything and I know what I'm doing so it shouldnt be too bad just nerves is all.
If you ever have any questions or want some notes or need help with how the teachers are or how they test or anything don't hesitate to e-mail me or ask to meet up at the school. [email protected]!
