Has anyone heard anything about acceptance into Galen's April 2009 program start? The waiting game really takes its toll on us older folk!

Im testing on the 9th in hopes to get into the April class. I am an older student and am freaking out about this test. Can you tell me any specific area to study for the math & grammer. Im almost so scared that Im doubting whether to take this test or just give up on this dream to be an RN.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Hope2besoon,
I too am a "more experienced" student (50). I'm assuming you're talking about the CPat. You can google the test and find sample questions, but I bought a book by the NLN entitled, "Review Guide for LPN Pre-Entrance Exam", 2nd Edition. It's WONDERFUL! Not only does it have sample tests, it explains how to get to the answer. Kinda like a refresher course for those of us who've forgotten what we learned. Bought mine at Barnes & Noble. Cost $34.95. A little high, but I scored a 196!
Got accepted into the April class. Hope to see you there!
Congrats !!! How soon did you find out that you got accepted ? The wait will kill me. Thanks for the book name
Took the CPat on January 15. Received my packet on February 19. If you're going into the April class, I would think the wait wouldn't be too long since you've got a lot of things to get done before then (physical, shots, etc.). I wish you the best. Let me know how it goes.

Hi there,
hopetobesoon, Just curious if you took the CPat on the 9th? I took it in February and I was also very scared. But, I passed! I got a 185 I believe. I am still waiting to hear if I got accepted or not though. This wait is killing me! I want to go there really bad. I enrolled into Brown Mackie college's LPN program but their quarter starts before Galen's so they are trying to rush me through the process so I'm dying to know if Galen is accepting me or not since they are my first choice. ugh.
:chuckle
You need to call and talk to admissions. I took the test and unfortunately failed it by 2 points. I will be re-testing in May for the July session. Call Wendy because she said they let you know within a week if you are accepted. Good Luck !
I'm sorry about the test. You will do fine the 2nd time. That's weird. I contacted Mandy and she told me that she couldn't tell me exactly when my letter or packet will come. She said it would be sometime soon but that she couldn't tell me when the committee meets again. ? You don't have an email for Wendy do you? I don't want to seem naggy.

Thank you. Maybe I'll see you around there sometime later this year.
Really sorry to hear about the test results. But don't give up. Do they let you know which section of the test you were weak in, so you know what to concentrate on? I needed more help in math. The book I told you about is good, but I also like www.thinkquest.org/library. It sounds corny because it's for kids and by kids but for me that's why some of the stuff was easy to understand and remember. Just trying to think of ways to help. Seriously though, don't give up. There were 2 people retesting when I took the test. Keep at it and hope to meet you there this summer.
Old Skippy, I'm tempted to go and read that book you used and go to that webpage just to make my skills a bit stronger period. You got a good score on the CPat! I hope I see you in the April class! Still waiting to hear.
To study I actually went to the library and checked out a bunch of those "The Complete Idiots' Guide to..." books. I got one for Grammar, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry.... They explain things like fractions, etc. in simpler terms too.
Good luck again!
