I don't think you can get around it. I'm in Ga also. I graduated a few months ago (Practical Nursing program) and I had to meet a required amount of clinical hours in order to even graduate from the program.
As far as I understand it in order to even be able to sit for boards you have to have graduated from an accredited program, meet the clinical hours and have those submitted before even attempting the nclex.
I missed one clinical due to a virus and had to make up those 8 hours. If I didn't, I wouldn't have been allowed to continue in the program.
I am done with school but because I did my RN program online GA wants another 320 hours of preceptor before I can take the exam. I contacted SCBON though and they will allow me to take the NCLEX there for a single state license even though I live in GA. Once I pass the NCLEX I can then transfer it to GA.

I am beginning preparations to take the NCLEX in GA, but because I am a not traditional student (I am at Excelsior) and have not worked acute care, I have to do preceptorship of 320 hrs according to the GA-BON website. Is anyone that is licensed in GA able to get around this? I was thinking of testing in SC but I think you have to be a resident.
