Hello! I had a few questions about GBCN for anyone who has or is going there. Do they mostly take transfer students? I am completing my BS in Biology first and was wondering if those credits will still transfer if they are already applied to a previous Bachelor's degree.
Also, how is the cost? I am strained financially and was wondering if anyone had problems getting financial aid, etc.
I am really on the fence between GBCN and GSU, I appreciate any help! :)

Hey auxcouleur!
I'm a first semester student at GBCN.. I'm not 100% sure whether your credits will transfer, so definitely give the Office of Admissions a call.. the admissions ladies are wonderful! so I'm sure they will be able to help you.
Financially, it is a private school, and it's expensive.. I'm sure if you apply for loans and go through FAFSA then you could get some money to help cover the cost, but if money is a really big issue for you then GSU would obviously be a lot cheaper.
Good Luck making a choice!

Good morning,
I am a current student at GBCN, first semester and you have to plan out how you are going to pay for school before you start. I have seen people have to drop because they were not able to pay for it. I know that it is not easy for myself to pay for school so before I started I developed a plan and made sure I got enough loans and family support to cover school. Nursing school is stressful enough without having to worry about money.
GBCN does take credits from other schools. You do have to make sure it is on the same credit system as GBCN. The admin is great and will go through everything with you.
I would strongly advise you to visit each school and ask questions about their nursing program. Try to picture yourself in the program and see if it will a good fit for you.
Good luck!!

Hi Auxcouler,
Sorry for the late reply, I was searching through the forum and found this. Figured i'd give you some input. :) I'm a GBCN grad and I would recommend this school to anyone. They will take transfer credit, but I will definitely meet with an admissions rep to see if everything will transfer. I think it depends on the curriculum and what school you went too.
It is a prestigious school and GBCN is definitely known around GA for its name. In this economy, graduating from a school like this really does wonders for you. When you go to interviews, most of the people who interview you whether HR or nursing managers...atleast one of them will be a GBCN graduate.
As it is prestigious it is pricey..However, there are several ways to go around the high costs. First, if you apply to financial aid early you will definitely score a great financial aid package. So government, state, and other organizations will help you based on need. GBCN also has a contract with Piedmont for the Piedmont Scholars Program. If this is available to you - by all means apply for it. Its a great program and you will learn so much from the Piedmont nurses!
I think that answers all your questions...hope this helps, and good luck with your search!
