Fscj rn summer 2018 hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

My name is Brittiany and I'm applying for FSCJ's Summer 2018 Nursing program. Anyone out there applying as well?

Hi everyone. I applied with 139.15/140 not including the possible 20 extra credit points. I received an email conformation saying "We have received your application for the Spring 2018 term and it is currently under review". Did anyone else receive a confirmation saying Spring 2018 and not Summer? I am SO anxious for the acceptance/denial letter! :p

Am I the only person that hasn't gotten any email letting me know they even got my application?

Curious does anyone know about the Lpn program, I realize people here are talking about the Rn program (which I'm an older student, not wanting Rn program at the moment) I'm just wondering if anyone knows how competitive it is to get In? I took the hesi and ect actually did pretty well over all 84. Thanks in advance

I have been a LPN for 7 years; currently 5 years as a Dialysis Nurse. I can tell you from experience, you are better off going to RN school and forgoing LPN all together. LPNs now days are pretty much regulated to a nursing home, and they are starting to migrate away from LPN's.

I wish I would have went straight to RN school instead of the LPN route first; ask any LPN and 90% would agree with me.

Kenny, hi I agree with you, I worked in a hospital for 13 years as a pct/unit coordinator and really have no desire to go back to the hospital. My mom is a retired nurse manager, daughter in laws that are rn's, I know what you are saying. I enjoy the older population as I also taught Hospice/ Alzheimer's classes for a home health company is the reason I'm looking at the Lpn program. Who knows I'll change my mind if I don't get in to the program this summer.

Hi @cardtm1 I would shoot them an email just to make sure they have received it. I was sent a confirmation the next day by email saying that they received my application for Spring 2018.. I worried about the fact it said Spring and not Summer so I emailed the admissions office and they told me they did receive my application and resent a new email saying for Summer 2018. Here is the email if you need it :)[email protected]

Hey, my name is Tasha, I applied for the summer bridge program with an 87.5 on the hesi but overall points of 129.1 because I'm currently still taking Chemistry and Humanities so I get 0 points for both at this time. I was told by someone in the nursing department that I would more than likely not get in because my current classes don't end until April and they start accepting for the bridge program in March. I decided to give it a shot anyway because I could still have a slight chance of getting in with my points...and if not, there's always next summer. I would love to apply to the ASN program but I work full time so my only option is the bridge program. Is there anyone else having similar issues or know anyone who has been in my situation? If so, what was the outcome? Good luck to everyone!

Thankyou Deanna!!! :)

You're very welcome! I hope you get a response soon!

Hi! I was just wondering how long they give you to go get your scrubs and get your background check after you get the acceptance letter? I'm rather tight on money

I was the same way. After your acceptance letter, they first initially send you the information to get your background check, drug test, and fingerprinting done. They gave us a month to turn that in. It cost about $110 for all 3 of those.

Once those were turned in, we were then instructed to get our medical documentation together (flu shot, tdap shot, ppd skin test, positive titers for all immunizations as they do not accept shot records, physical examination). We had to Then have these done by orientation which was about 3 weeks. Insurance through doctor can cover this but if you go through like a walk in clinic, it will be about $300ish.

At orientation, they told us they had to submit the list to the bookstore to get our skills kit (can't buy it before they have the list). This is $200. Books are covered in tuition so you don't have to pay for any of those out of pocket.

Some people were able to get their uniforms prior to orientation but because they only carry them at north campus, a lot of us had to wait until orientation. We didn't wear them until week 3 clinicals. But you do need to have your nursing student polo with khaki pants for day 1 labs. Scrub pants can be purchased anywhere you want as long as they are all white with no cargo pockets on the pant leg. Scrub tops are at the bookstore but most sizes will be in short supply so be prepared to have them ordered. There is also a form you need to fill out to get your name tag ordered ($12).

Has anybody heard anything yet?
