Fscj rn summer 2018 hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

My name is Brittiany and I'm applying for FSCJ's Summer 2018 Nursing program. Anyone out there applying as well?

Specializes in Level II Trauma OR, Oncology/Neuro/Ortho Med-Surg.

Cutoff for Spring was 135.167

Schedule actually isn't too bad. You have 2 classes per Term but they are taken one at a time in 7 week blocks. For us, there were 2 different types of schedules. The 2 schedules were in these blocks:

Tues - Lecture and Lab

Wed - Clinicals

Thurs - Lecture

-or-

Tues - Clinicals

Wed - Lecture and LAb

Friday - Lecture

*ALL tests no matter what teacher or class days take place on Monday at a specific time per your term at the FSCJ testing center of your choice as long as there is availability.*

There were different times for the classes depending on the teacher with some being as early as 8am and as late as 2pm. Clinicals are 7-4 no matter which schedule.

They told us that they don't do evening classes every 4th term so there will be one term during your program that will not have an evening option.

do we have to apply online? Do you email a copy of your transcripts or just fill out the application and email cpr card?

Does anyone know if you just need to take the parts of the hesi they are actually giving credit for or do you need to complete the whole test?

You have to take the whole test

Application is submitted through email with your CPR card copy and a copy of HESI transcript only if you took the test somewhere other than FSCJ. Official transcripts have to be sent so emailing them won't count as official.

Be warned though..they seem to have trouble getting all transcripts. It took them more than 3 months to say they finally received all of mine after multiple attempts to have my other schools resend them so it doesn't hurt to have an unofficial copy readily available if they ask. My other schools had the electronic proof that FSCJ had received and opened them but they claimed they didn't.

Just remember to breathe! The HESI is in 9 sections but you can take them in any order you want. So get your best subjects out of the way first if you can, then you take your time on the remaining sections. I never actually used a HESI prep book, only a TEAS prep book. I took both tests in 2 consecutive days and made really good marks on both with just the one book since they were both essentially the same test. This is the book I used just in case you were interested:

Hey everyone! I am applying for the summer 2018 program as well. I have been waiting for one of these threads to pop up! Hopefully someone will make a facebook group soon for the hopefuls. I take my HESI on 2/13/18. I have been studying quite a bit so hopefully I wont have any issues. From what I was told, work experience and GPA is not being accounted for anymore. Its not even on the application anymore.

Breathe taking the HESI it's not hard. It's gauging how well your going to do in nursing school, and it's also testing your ability for taking the NCLEX.

I took the NCLEX PN 7 years ago. Trust me that is a lot harder and more stressful.

If you don't do well on the HESI, your not going to do well on the NCLEX, and therefore you will not get your RN license.

Learn test taking strategies, study, study, study, and learn how to bring your anxiety level down. Your going to experience real pressure and anxiety in emergency situations. Trust me on that, I have been a dialysis nurse for the last 5 years.

I look forward to meeting everyone this summer, whether it's in LPN to Bridge program or RN school.

I'm applying tomorrow evening! I take my Hesi in the morning...have to get my BLS renewed in the afternoon...then I'm sending them my stuff! I'm only emailing them my BLS card, app and LPN license. I got my LPN and all my prereqs with FSCJ so I don't believe I need to attach any transcripts. I'm ready to take this dang test! I've been working as a LPN for 4 years so I'm ready to have my RN! I think the LPN bridge only has 24 spots? I will be working full time while in school so the other RN programs are not an option. I'm excited and a little nervous! Good luck everyone and I hope we all get in!

Let us know how you did on the HESI today. I look forward to meeting you in the Bridge program.

Hello all! I just made an account because I applied to the nursing program for summer of 2018. I'm super excited yet nervous. I didn't do the best on the HESI but I have a friend who is about to graduate from the program in a couple of months and she told me to just submit my application because there is always a chance I could get in. Here are my scores and grades.

A&P 1 - B

A&p 2- A

Micro- C

Math- A

Humanities- A

Human growth and development- A

ENC1101- B

PSY1012- A

Chemistry- B

Hesi: Reading comp - 76%

Vocabulary - 88%

Grammar - 82%

Math - 66%

This was my second time taking the HESI this year. The first time I got a higher math hesi score. this time there was more fill in the blank. Any advice? Does anyone think I have a chance of getting in?
