 Can someone tell me why as a MA(MedicalAssistant) can't I get a job in a hospital? I am a MA since 99 have not been able to work back office because no one will give me a chance. But I can do wjat a PCT and CNA can do. If only i had a chance I could show those people. Will i have to take a PCT class or CNA class just to get in the hospital?

Thanks for listening to me vent any comments good or bad are welcomed. If anyone is from georgia and is working at a local hospital in atlanta please help me.!!!!!!!!:imbar

Thank-you in advance

i don't know about other places but where i live you don't have to be state tested nurse assistant to work in hospitals. the positions here are called personal care assistants (pca) and require no formal training. that's the way it works in the 4 hospitals that i've talked to. sad thing is with school, i don't have time to work. :chuckle

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

Hi!

I would ask what was the reason why I was not hired. You asked for a MA job not a PCT/CNA job and maybe this is the reasoning. What are you putting on your application/resume, that may define a difference or show similarities? I am correct in assuming that there is a difference, isn't there? Oh, my, school me. please! Lots Of Love

Well on my resume it is stated that I am a MA but on the other hand when I apply at the hospitals I am applying for a PCT position which I'm really not sure what their duties are in fact. But they just tell me that they don't hire MA's. yes there is a difference MA's work in dr's offices and assist dr's that could be from drawing blood to giving meds to assisting with a pap. I just want to get my foot in the hospital door.
