Hospitals want a year of experience for LVNs to work in their facility, with a lot of private schools in this area churning out new grads it's hard to find a SNF or LTC facility that needs us, what else is there to do?
I've done my homework really, I have. I've looked up and called the majority of hospitals and SNF/LTC facilities by CITY alphabetically and made two lists! I've called the DONs and a majority of replies were "We're not hiring at the moment but you are always welcome to fill out an application." I need a job NOW, not a month later. Ughhhh. I've even addressed coherent cover letters & resumes properly. What am I doing wrong?! At some of the places I've seen students from different schools, maybe they are given preference over new grads from other schools?
With gas prices so high I don't want to commute to LA, Riverside, or SD county but fear I may have to. Are there any facilities that will hire new grads with no experience?

If I were you I would go put in an application at the LTC/SNF anyway even though they're not hiring. The reason is that the turn over rate is so high. Go and apply at the hospitals anyway because you never know, you might get called. Don't let the 1 year experience get you, go and apply and see what happens. Don't limit yourself because of what they're asking. The worst they can tell you is no. Good Luck
