So, I was randomly selected this year along with others to submit my taxes and w2s to the school, even after doing my FAFSA. Well, it's taking them so long to review my documents, due to them being very busy. I get that. Well now, school starts monday, and the financial aid technician assigned to my file has not finished. So my financial aid check will be a month late. She told me that I can go ahead and pay out of pocket, and just pay myself back when I get my aid check. Now I don't know about you all, but I don't have 300-400 dollars just lying around my house. If I did, I wouldn't need the financial aid to begin with.
So now, I have to drop my classes for this semester because there is absolutely no way I can come up with the money for my books. I am so upset! I was so excited to start school on monday, and now I can't. Why can't something just go right for me? Just once?!?!?

I would think your school would still allow you to go to classes since your loan is in process. They can always drop you in a month if it doesn't go through and it isn't as if they are out anything. At my school if your financial aid isnt showing, the financial aid office will give you vouchers to use to pay for books, etc. Then if for some reason the loan didn't go through, you are still liable for repaying the amount spent on the vouchers. Also, they offer payment plans so maybe you could just sign up for one of them. If you only owe $400.00 you would probably only need to come up with 150.00 and agree to make payments on the rest. Personally, I am just shocked that your tuition is only 400.00! I go to a community college and I pay 200.00 a credit!
