Frustrated EN student

Published

Hi,

This is my first post. Been feeling frustrated lately at my last rotation in a medical ward as I am very slow and inefficient. I am expected to speed through pathways but I can't understand the context without reading it a line at a time. I forget the routine such as doing dressings after showers, grab all things at the same time for showers/vital obs etc. I take 20 mins to wash the patient or take more than enough time to do a manual BP to double check (on both arms if I am seriously concerned). Sigh I dont know how to manage time. Starting to feel unmotivated. Starting grad program in Sept. I don't know whether I would be able to cope.

Ask people on the ward for tips. Yes you are "expected" to be able to manage your time. Maybe you won't be able to cope..who knows. More than likely when you have to stay 2 hours late to complete your work you will start to get better at it. I was pretty slow my first 6 months or so on the ward. If you are lazy you will never get it. If you are hard worker you naturally get better.
