I can get in touch with them at all! They don't pick up the phone and they don't answer emails. I have been in contact with various boards and I can say that they are by far the most difficult to communicate with!
I"m a Canadian nurse: have my NCLEX, TN visa certificate, and MN license. I'm trying to endorse with California via a Walk-through, however the forms stipulate that I need a Social security number.
Do I really need this number at this point? Its just more paperwork and money. Anyone out there have any information...Canadians who endorsed with California??

You do need a SSN. All RNs do. Sorry about that.

You do not need a SSN# to get a temporary license from CA, but you will need to SSN# to begin work. You need the SSN# to get a permanent license. If you hold a license in another state, you can get the endorsement done easily.
The BRN is very easy to get thru to, but you need to do it first thing in the morning when they open, and this even works for Mondays and Fridays as well.
detailed answer in the other thread on the same topic.
and anything having to do with foreign nurses and working in the us should go to the international forum, where you would have gotten answers faster.
sticky at the top of this forum addresses this same thing.

help!
how many days will it take to process my temporary and permanent license?from new mexico to california?
Come to CA, with the TN Visa, you can apply for the SSN# at the Social Security Adminsitration office and get a number within about 10 days. Or you can go a border town and apply for it before you come down. But they will issue a temporary license without the SSN#, not a permanent one.

Silly1982 I feel your pain. I've had issues with the California BRN as well...and I was just transferring from another state! Getting through on the phone is sometimes like winning the lottery, and sometimes the person answering the phone isn't very nice or, in my case, gave me the wrong information. I've had to make a trip to Sacramento personally in order to straighten things out. Thankfully the personal counselor assigned to me was able to fix things and even apologized for the rudeness and misinformation given to me by the staff working the phones.
