Frontier Nursing University (FNU) vs Duke University - PMHNP

Published

I'm not seeing anything comparing these two. Specifically I don't see much about Duke at all. What is the quality of the education? It's three times the cost of Frontier. I hear great things about Frontier.

I've applied to Duke and may end up applying to Frontier also.

Doea anyone have any lived experience attending the Duke program? What were the benefits? Were things well organized and concise with clear expectations? Are they typically generous with scholarships and grants, considering the much higher price tag. Do they assist with job placement afterwards? What are the in person weekends like! Are they helpful? Are the instructors knowledgeable and personable? Really, any info on this program would be helpful. Also, if anyone finds an accurate number on the acceptance rate specifically for the PMHNP, I'd be curious about that. I've seen wildly different numbers depending on where I look.

I am interested in all of the above information regarding Frontier. I have found more info on them generally in the forums. But I'd love to hear any experiences specific to the PMHNP program.

I don't have any information on Duke. I am set to start PMHNP at Frontier in July. It was important to me that I chose a school that had more positive reviews than bad, a school that had immersive learning vs. teach yourself, a school that actually cared about their investment in your learning and their reputation, and a school that did not accept everyone just because they applied. Duke may also provide all of this as well, but I do not have any information for them and did not want to apply due to their tuition rates.

I was on the waitlist with Frontier for 5 months and honestly had accepted the fact that I was not going to be accepted when my letter came in. They have a strong reputation in the NP world and care about you and your education. The acceptance rates vary based on the specialty and how many applications they receive for each term, but I can say I have seen acceptance rates between 30-50% for past years. They do NOT accept everyone and I have seen so many be denied flat out or their waitlist expires and they must reapply. It is competitive.
