"At Frontier Nursing University, we are committed to building a superb educational community with students of diverse talents, experiences, opinions, and cultural backgrounds. Please write a well-crafted essay describing what you as an individual would bring to our educational community, the advanced practice nursing profession, and the community you seek to serve. (500 word maximum)"

I am having a lot of trouble putting the pen to paper on this essay.  My GPA is solid and I have three professional references from people I respect in the psychiatric nursing field.  Despite all of my efforts, one essay could derail my chances of getting accepted (that frightens me).  Any insight as to how I should structure this essay?

You're waaaaay over-thinking this. The essays at most schools aren't the "make or break" item for entry. Just write honestly about yourself, your aspirations, your plans once you're an NP. Are you planning on precepting future NP students? Include that in your essay. Yes, you can tout your GPA & experience. But what makes you uniquely "you"? Why should they take you as a student? Think about those reasons and you'll easily get to 500 words. They gave you 3 topics to discuss. Paragraph for each topic and your essay is written.
