Front of the line (semester about to begin)

I feel like I've gotten to the front of the line at the roller coaster. Just waiting for the previous riders to leave. And for the staff to clean up the vomit.

Tomorrow is the first day we can buy textbooks with student aid funds at my school. I plan to be there bright and early (mostly for personal logistics reasons). Fortunately our nursing department was nice enough to put up a provisional syllabus on the department website, so we're already able to see what our readings are, etc.

I like being on op of things, getting ahead in my assignments, etc. It usually doesn't last, and I imagine there will be at least a few of my classmates more organized and determined than I, but I'm still excited to get this journey started.

Enjoy the ride!!!

Yay! It's nice when you can get a jump start on the reading. Not that there's much of that in nursing school...

:roflmao:

You can have my seat in the coaster. I just got off the ride yesterday. Hold on tight because it is a wild ride with plenty of loops.

Good luck

Congrats on starting your journey! I'll be getting off the ride in May :D

I am in line for about 18 more days. I start 8/25 and i am experiencing every emotion at the same time. I have everything i need and just need to attend the first day. Good luck to you and congrats to those that have completed!

I SO needed to read this. I am feeling exactly the same thing. Even the little flutters in the tummy. I purchased the last of my books yesterday (a bundle that the campus bookstore doesn't post ISBN numbers for), and they are HUGE. Unfortunately, I don't get the benefit of having a syllabus, or really any information about the program until next Tuesday and Wednesday, when we have orientation. Classes start the following Monday. I think not knowing is increasing my anxiety.

Congrats on starting your journey! ! You are lucky to have access to the syllabus early, I tried contacting my instructors and they told me its still under revisions :(

LOL! Great way to put it. Hope you enjoy the ride!

"The joy is in the ride", is a favourite quote of mine. As far as nursing school- it's a pretty wild one, but take time to savour how far you have come every now and then. Good luck!

I am in the same boat as you! Good luck! We got this!!

Enjoy the ride and consider buying (or renting) your books from Amazon.com instead of the school bookstore. I bought the books I thought I'd want to keep and rented the rest. Then I used the money I saved to get a good stethoscope.

In my situation, if I use the student bookstore I get to use OPM (other people's money). My scholarship funds were just enough to cover tuition and books this semester, so I can't complain about that.

Brought home the books this morning and set them on the scale. Forty two pounds. I got a little winded hauling them up to my car from the store, and I'm in fairly decent shape. Already doing some of the reading for the first week now.
