From ICU to transfer center.

Have any of y’all worked at a transfer center while attending NP school? I’ve worked bedside for five years and just want to take a break from direct patient care while I’m in school. Is this a bad idea? Because I may lose my “skills”? I feel that at the transfer center I can also gain important mental/non physical skills of triage and assessment that I can apply to as an NP.

Also, is there a time frame most acute care NP programs require to have ICU experience within time of application?
