Published

Hi all, I am wondering what are the pros and cons from leaving the hospital medsurg/tele to homecare med/surg. I work in a trauma hospital (4 yrs)and add covid 19 I need a break to avoid burn out if I’m not already there. Thank your for your advice.

It all depends on what you will be doing in homecare whether it is case management , direct patient care etc. For most people homecare is usually a pay cut, although it can be less stressful. In my experience, most of the homecare cases I’ve been offered were for adults and pediatric clients with autism, seizure disorders, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, MS etc.

The downside to home care is that hours are not always guaranteed if your client is hospitalized or insurance reduces hours it can be hard maintaining full time hours.

homecare is usually per diem try it out before hand to see if it fits for you.
