Frist year student needs advice!!

Hello, I am a frist year nursing student and I am very interested in getting involved in the nursing profession through a professional nursing organization. Does anyone have any recommendations or advise on deciding which professional organization to join. I would greatly appreciate any help or information! Thanks so much - Kane :rolleyes:

Does your school have a chapter of the Student Nurses Association. If it doesn't it should. That is a preprofessional organization that represents students...

If you know for sure that you want to do a certain type of nursing, join that association- such as Am. Assoc. of Critical Care Nurses, or Association of OR nurses, Emergency Nurses Association, etc...These are really helpful for learning a lot about that area.

If you are less sure, you can join ANA or the student ANA.

I joined the American Holistic Nurses Association on a student level since I am interested in that. Pretty much any nurse's association would probably have a student level.
