Good morning!
Hope Dory continues to improve.
I've been fortunate that none of my five dogs have been bothered by thunder. Good thing because we get almost daily thunderstorms in the Summer. Maybe they are acclimated to it as Floridian puppies.
There's a generational idea (not Gen Z) that you have to work and advance your career. I've gotten those suggestions a lot in my life. I did go back for a BSN but stopped there. For me it's enough to be a worker bee and not advance my career further.
I saw my nice paycheck online at work but it wasn't deposited. We get paid on Monday but for the past year or so it's been deposited on the Friday before so I wonder what's changed. No "pending deposit" for Monday either. Guess I have to wait until Monday to see if it's deposited. Weird.
Off today and getting ready to work the weekend. Have a great day.
Joe~ When I was much younger we used to say (and I don't know where we picked it up from): "Finger-prints, Hand-prints, Foot-Prints, Heeerrreeee Prince!" and then we'd whistle.
Tweety! When I read your yesterdays post, I misread it and though you were saying you worked a 36 hour shift ("3 in a row") but then I realized you wouldn't be quite so calm if that had actually been the case. However, you DO work a LOT, so that's why I read it that way. // And people used to tell me "You should get your RN" and I would respond, "NOOOO WAY!" I'd rather be a 'grunt' worker than have to be in charge or responsible for anything. Not to say I didn't ever do charge, but the situations were much less dire than what nurses have to deal with in this day and age. And there were NO COMPUTERS to have to deal with back then!
Welp, when I got dressed and came down to the den, there was Nannie, legs raised, back horizontal, and she was sound asleep in her recliner. Guess she sometimes DOES know how to work the recliner's remote control. It was a shame I had to wake her up for breakfast and meds; however she DID go right back to sleep as soon as I put her shoulder-wrap around her. I did have to turn the electric fireplace on for a while as the den is the coldest spot in the house. Gasp! Maybe we are haunted ! 😯 No, though, I guess not, because we can't 'see' our breath, there's no deep, scary voices, and nobody's head is spinning around. (yet ... 🙃)
May dash out to the store for a brief minute....there is ALWAYS something I forgot to get when I do a bigger store-run! Not sure what the day holds otherwise. Except for more high temps (88-90) and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms. Summer has indeed begun, with the usual weather pattern.
Suppose I ought to CARPE' DIEM, before it rains.....
Later, y'all~
So I'm walking down the store aisle and toward me, a lady was pushing a cart with a boy in it....maybe 6 or 7 years old. As they started to go by me, the kid smiled and said to me, "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!". I just smiled big and said "Why, THANK YOU!" He was so proud of himself!
Just tried the first mango-anything I've ever tried. I got a mango 'jerky', the contents of which is all mango, only mango. I never wanted to try a mango-flavored anything, because I have always thought that papaya smelled like baby vomit. I know they aren't the same thing, but I was afraid it might be a similar smell or taste. So, now that my sense of taste is diminished, and I know mango doesn't have that unfortunate infant effluvia smell, maybe I will try papaya next time. Maybe.
3:30 PM and Nannie is still conked out, snoring lightly. I prolly should do the dishes one of these hours...
tmb~ OH! I got a PM from you and thought what you sent was wonderful, but for some reason I cannot reply. Don't know if it's because I have Ad Remover, or I need to "upgrade" my membership, or who-knows-what. But I wanted to acknowledge your post and wanted to tell you-----It was pretty brilliant!
Hope TMB is doing okay. I haven't been on the political forums where were normally interact. I may decide to wait out all the Trump trial madness and the election before I decide to read and post there, but then again I probably can't help myself and will jump right in. LOL
Mangos can be expensive so I wait for a sale and they are currently on sale and I had one for breakfast. I love them. The dried mango's (jerky) I've seen here have added sugar so I rarely eat them.
I decided to check my bank account again and while it's not showing my check deposit like usual at least it's now under "pending transactions". I also checked my retirement accounts and after going down they are back up. I'm not sure I mentioned a call from my financial advisor. He said my accounts overall are 3% up this year and to expect lots of ups and downs due to it being an election year. He said he's finally retiring this year. He's a year older than me. Good for him. He has a husband that already is retired. Two incomes makes it a bit easier to retire early I'm sure.
Talked to my sister for an hour and a half. She said things are holding on at home and my visit should be a normal one. Mom's renal disease is at a Stage IV but any medication she goes on had the dreadful effect of emotional distress and anxiety. Even hydrolyzing does this to her. They went through hell while she was on a beta blocker a couple of years ago. Anyway, her doc has decided to leave it alone. None of us want her to go on dialysis at age 87 so we'll just see what nature has to say.
Also heard my dad's baby sister is coming for a visit at the end of the month. She's had some health issues for a wile and couldn't make the trip, but seems to be in good enough health to make it from Alabama. Her son and his wife will be escorting her. They haven't seen each other in years and this will be very uplifting to my father.

Hi Tweety
Work was at times stressful yesterday although better than the 2 previous days. Hoping today is better still
Rest of the day was fairly quiet, stopped at the library and exercised. Trying out the facebook dating app, rather disappointing.
Thinking about a nurse practitioner role, at the recommendation of the counselor. I think it's unlikely and impractical to make that change at this point in my career, but it might be interesting as a thought exercise
Today have only a half day, as I need to go and get fingerprinted for my NC license. Will also take the opportunity to do a little shopping and maybe stop at the arboretum if I have time
Another cooler day in the upper 60s
