Fresno City College (FCC) - Fall 2025/Spring 2026 RN program

Published

I recently applied to FCC's nursing program but I'm just confused on the selection process. I see/hear a lot of conflicting information about how they actually go about it. even the website kind of confused me. do they do 100% lottery system or points based & lottery? if anyone knows it would really help me out. I took my TEAS really late (Jan 11) so im kinda only left with community colleges this cycle.

I got into FCC. Got the email today! I got into the Spring 2026 cohort.

Then maybe that means we were the points ones and they still haven't done the lottery yet. There's probably still plenty of spots guys

Personally I had maybe like 78 points so IDK if it's point based being sent out right now

To add to that those that were in eops, trio stem, and I want to say one other program, were also put into their own separate lottery. So two chances on being drawn. So my name was put into that lottery and the normal lottery.

So you applied with 78 points? It's sad that I had 81 pts and still haven't received an email. 😭

I'm in the same boat as you! It's so hard to decide where to go. I think COS has a better program and passing rate, but FCC is slightly closer to me, so IDK.

To be honest guys I really wanted FCC. I didn't apply to COS because my points weren't competitive enough. But if you have the chance to go to COS I would say you if you chose COS you guys are given us people that didn't get selected another opportunity. Im not saying for you guys to choose COS it's up to you guys but letting you guys know there are some people out there literally crying right now because they haven't received their acceptance letter.

Did anyone hear back from West Hill?

IDK if it's sad. Everyone who applies works hard to get to this point. You have no context to my application process, how many times I've applied, what I have endured/faces. Trials and tribulations etc. doesn't make me any less deserving because someone has more points. I took 17 units while pregnant my second to last semester and had Covid. Laying on the couch throwing up taking math11 exam. I gave birth my last semester raking 12 units and missed ONE class. And much much more adjusting while in school. Total 4 kids and one was a newborn and I sacrificed my time with him to graduate with highest honors and two degrees. List goes on. My numbers don't reflect how hard I have worked and or what I had to overcome. Good luck to you.

It's really not fair to try to sway people to choose something they aren't sure of. They are not in control of who is selected and who isn't. Would it be nice, of course. But guilting someone because some were not accepted isn't right. We all know what we are signing up for when we apply to the lottery.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't mean that way. I understand that everyone works hard. I wish and hope that everyone would get in but that's just not how nursing work. I'm glad that you got in and yes you deserve it. I'm just questioning and confuse about their selecting process.

Yessss! Same exact thought! FCC is closer since I live in Fresno, but I also heard good stuff about cos. Let me know what you ended up choosing if you don't mind LOL
